Meet the Steering Committee
ERINN M.
![]() |
Erinn is a Peer Advisor with the Southern California Chapter of the National MS Society, advising other people living with MS. She lives in Hermosa Beach, California.
When she began experiencing vision problems in the mid-90's, the first thing Erinn did after receiving a diagnosis of optic neuritis was to consult the Internet. A few years later, when her MS diagnosis was confirmed, Erinn was not surprised because of information she had researched online. At the time, she was a senior contracts administrator at the Boeing Company, and then a senior financial analyst at Mattel, Inc. and she continued working for several years until exhaustion forced her to go on disability.
Ironically, that very disability has led Erinn to a new feeling of "possibility." She now serves as a peer advisor for other people living with MS through the Southern California Chapter National MS Society. She's also engaged in activities at the Marilyn Hilton MS Achievement Center at UCLA.
Erinn relies on technology to manage her schedule. She enters appointments and tasks into her cell phone calendar and uses e-mail to communicate with her doctors. Before becoming involved with the Collaborative, she was largely unaware of the technologies available to help people with MS.
Erinn hopes to help others living with MS by sharing what she's learning. In her words, "I'm helping other people with MS, but I'm also helping myself."
